It’s been a busy season work-wise for both my husband and myself! I’m sharing some easy feng shui tips that have really worked for both of us in different ways: winning an award, gaining new opportunities, a raise, and then some!

Lizanne is the yang to my yin. We have been friends and business partners for over ten years. Having her in my life has stretched me in directions I never thought I would go. I often relate my relationship to her with the feng shui element of metal, which represents completion, creativity and joy. Metal is often embodied in mirrors: smooth, reflective, and infinite.

As an adult studying feng shui, I learned that orange peels clear the energy of a space. It brings in yang energy, which is bright and sunny. The color is vibrant and the scent is uplifting. It makes perfect sense if you think about it. Oranges represent health and nourishment. For spaces that need a refreshed energy or new qi, we apply oranges in very specific feng shui rituals.

We are thrilled to launch Everyday Art Cards — used for art, feng shui and intuition. The first deck is called 9 Worlds relating to the 9 categories of feng shui and 9 worlds in Buddhism.

A lot of my clients ask for a salon style wall when I am installing art in their homes. There is a balance to making it not look too cluttered and creating a specific vibe without looking contrived. I always suggest mixing up the media and piecing together works that give off the same energy. I also like a scattered, less formal install for salon hangs.

It is only natural that spring aligns with the energy of wood, which represents new beginnings in feng shui. We seek nature and wood for vitality, growth, flexibility, and kindness. I will be looking for lush trees, spring buds, sturdy tree trunks, and long limbs to manifest an upward movement of energy.

A good frame can enhance any artwork - bring out colors or forms from within the piece. It can change the tone of a work from just ok to super chic. However, when installing art in a home, I don’t obsess over its frame.

Lunar New Year for my Taiwanese family is about returning home, spending time with my family and feasting. We bow to our elders and receive red envelopes filled with $$$. We eat noodles for long life, fish for abundance, dumplings for prosperity, and a special green vegetable. My Hakka family makes tang yuan soup to symbolize a ‘full’ life.

In feng shui, water qualities are clear and deep, restorative and quiet, reflectful and insightful. We use black, wavy lines to guide us through Yin energy-it’s a quiet feeling. With reflection, we look deeply into our path and in life and focus on it.
